New Mercedes V Class for 2014
New Mercedes V-Class for 2014
Mercedes has revealed its latest eight-seat MPV – the all-new V-Class – at a special event in Germany.
Essentially a replacement for the Viano, the V-Class has been designed to move away from its commercial vehicle roots and has been repositioned within the brand’s passenger car range, alongside the likes of the C-Class and S-Class, rather than alongside its vans.
Whilst is shares around 20% of the chassis components with the Viano and, from the outside, keeps the same boxy shape, there are some major styling changes at the front with the V-Class fashioning a much smoother, more car-like appearance.
Inside, the cabin has been totally transformed too with the same floating dashboard as the new C-Class.
There’s the option of four conference-facing seats or two rows of forward facing bench seats in the passenger compartment and the boot has been designed so that you can open a small glass tailgate or the whole thing – we’re not entirely sure of the benefits over a traditional split tailgate but Mercedes are pretty proud of it.
In the UK, we’ll get two different engines to choose from; the V220 CDI and the V250 BlueTEC with lower emissions expected across the range. We’re told the V250 in fact will be the first 8-seat MPV to meet the new Euro 6 emissions regulations.
No official prices have been released for the UK yet but with equivalent prices in Germany starting at around £35,000 we should expect it to be somewhere within this region.
We think the new V-Class is perfect for van accessories and van styling accessories - alloy wheels, chrome, side bars and just about anything we can get our hands on!
