First Look at VW T6 for 2015

It’s hard to believe that the T5 generation of VW Transporter has been with us for over 10 years now and, despite remaining relatively unchanged since its launch in 2003, that it continues to dominate the van market today.

With added pressure in the form of the new Ford Transit Custom as well as the imminent arrival of the new Vauxhall Vivaro and Renault Trafic, VW, it seems, will need to up their game if they want to remain serious contenders in the commercial vehicle trade.

Concept Launched at Geneva Motor Show

With that in mind, Volkswagen appears to have responded to the threats with an all-new concept vehicle for the Geneva Motor Show. Admittedly it hasn’t been confirmed by VW but, according to German motoring magazine Autobuild, this new concept will replace the T5 during 2015.

Whilst most of the information we have is based on rumours, we can see that the E-Co Motion concept is a refreshing new approach for the VW brand. Though at some angles it may look like it was designed with an etch a sketch, the clean minimalist design and shorter overhang does make it quite the eye catcher.

Predictably, no engines have been confirmed at this point but, considering current trends, we expect to see similar, if not smaller engines with an emphasis on improved efficiency and emissions.

In terms of pricing, again, there is little information, but we think somewhere around £19,000 is likely.

With only rumours and speculation to go on, we can’t be too sure what the finished product will look like. But with the success of the T5 and its cult following, VW will need to get the formula right if it wants to share the same success as it predecessor!
