Van Curtain Guide: Fitting & Info
First things first, you're looking for curtains for your van; which do you buy? Well, you're going to want to decide on where exactly you want the curtains to fit first, whether that be the side (both or just one), the rear or as a cab divider. Then you're going to need to determine if you have a sliding door and if your van is a tailgate or barndoor, as these will all affect the curtains you need to buy.
Once you've got your van type, where you want the curtains for and what kind of opening or style this is, then you may also want to determine a colour; black or grey. This is of course a preference thing, the curtains themselves will not differ otherwise. Once all this is determined and decided, you can go ahead and select your vehicle and order the curtains HERE.
So you've bought your curtains and now is the time to fit them to the interior of your van. All of our curatins come will the fittings and fixtures you will need, including screws, pre-bent rails, tie backs, end stops and gliders. You will simply need a drill and screwdriver to fit, which can be done by one person. We would rate the difficulty as a 2.5/5 and estimate that each curtain will take approx 30 minutes to fit.
Fitting Guide Step-by-Step
1. Ensure that the interior of your van is fully lined, carpeted or finished before fitting curtains.
2. Each curtain rail is pre-bent and labelled for a specific window with 'T' for top and 'B' for bottom. Once you have the correct rail, position it centrally in the window recess.
3. Using a 2.5mm drill bit, select one of the pre-drilled holes in the rail and drill through the van metal work.
4. Screw the rail in place with one of the supplied screws. Repeat steps 3 and 4 for all pre-drilled holes in the rails.
5. Once you have done the top and bottom rails, you can begin threading the curtains on to the top rail using the attached plastic sliders - ensure the metal poppers face outwards. Don't worry if the curtains look short at this point, they are designed to stretch.
6. Fix the plastic end stops to the top rail and using the hole in each as a guide, drill through the rail and the van metal work to leave a small hole.
7. Fasten the end caps in place using the provided screw fixings.
8. Stretch the curtains down to the bottom rail and thread the sliders on, as you did with the top.
9. Fasten the plastic end stops on and repeat steps 6 and 7.
10. Using the side poppers on each curtain as a guide, mark and drill the van metal work. Screw the 'male' popper to the van.
You have now fitted your van curtains and these can work as a great loght maximiser during the day, just attached the supplied tie backs, or the perfect privacy shield at night once the side poppers are secured. Add a set of curtains to your basket and happy fitting.
