Van Demon visits the Volkswagen Tatton Park Show

Tatton Park is the home to the largest VW enthusiast gathering in the North of England, with thousands of VW vans and cars - as well as Porsche, Seat and Skoda – coming together to display and connect. There’s also an automotive jumble sale, dog shows and trade stalls.

We headed down the M6 and arrived at Tatton Park, ready for the gates to open at 9am on Sunday 4th August. The car park alone was overrun with Transporters, Caddy’s and more, and then entering the show it was clear we’d arrived at a van lovers paradise.

Of course, we were only really there for the vans. The cars were cool looking, but the vans are where our hearts lie. We walked around the show for several hours, taking in every single van on show. From old-style campers, to new and highly stylised T5’s and T6’s – there was something for everyone.

There were several vans we’d have happily hopped into and taken home right there and then, as well as many Van Demon customers proudly showing off their products. From wind deflectors and roof bars, to windows and side bars – there was literally everything!

We spotted a few notable van 'trends' while walking round the show. The first was definitely rusty or worn paintwork. We featured a rusty T5 a few weeks ago which while unique, was definitely a van you wouldn't expect to see with such a rusted old appearance. At the show however, there were several vans that were maybe more suited to the rust look, including two old campers. One fully committed to the rust look, while the other went for worn paintwork and took the overall appearance to a new level with ropes, wood, lights and even mice!

Another popular design quality, and maybe our favourite, had to be custom designed front bumpers. We saw so many different variations, from colour-coded and split colours, to contrast black and patterned. The show was also overrun with side ornings, 'clip on' tents and pop-top roof units.

We even spotted a few fully customised (and very unique) designs like this Transporter turned pickup truck with custom-made wood lining. As well as several of our Van Demon customers and vans we've actually had the privilege of photographing in the past too!

Overall it was a brilliant day and gave us a great opportunity to see some awesome and sometimes crazy looking vans, as well as getting to meet some customers in the process. Have you ever attended the Tatton Park VW Show?
