Please note: the TowStep mounts to an existing flange-plate towbar. Your Ford Transit Custom (2013-2023) must already have a flange-type towbar fitted - the TowStep bolts to it rather than to the vehicle chassis. If your van has no towbar, or has a swan-neck or detachable towbar rather than a flange plate, this step will not fit. Please also check the compatibility of the towbar you intend to use before ordering.

Most rear steps make you pick a side: a step that gets in the way of your towbar, or a towbar that leaves you with nothing to stand on. The Rhino TowStep does both jobs properly. A removable centre section lifts out in seconds so you can hitch a trailer, then drops straight back in to give you a full-width step for loading.

Hitch up in seconds, step up the rest of the time

The user-friendly removable centre section is the whole point of the TowStep. Lift it out, attach your trailer, and go - no tools, no fighting a fixed step for access to the towball. Put it back and you have an uninterrupted full-width platform for getting in and out of the load area or reaching roof-mounted equipment. It is a genuinely dual-purpose step rather than a compromise between the two.

110-degree turning angle

The TowStep allows trailers an industry-leading 110-degree turning angle, and does so without sacrificing any of the step's functionality when a trailer is not attached. On tight yards and narrow driveways, that is the difference between reversing confidently and clipping your own step.

The centre section has been redesigned with a larger gap to accommodate an extensive range of UK and European towballs, and a tread infill piece is supplied to reduce that gap when you are using a smaller towball fitting. Fitting to your towbar is done with the bolts provided, and all the necessary fittings are included.

Built for daily site use

The tread is mounted onto a rigid steel support frame, giving you a secure entry point rather than something that flexes underfoot. Anti-slip tread plates hold grip in wet and frozen conditions, and a reflective strip keeps the step visible in poor light and at the end of a winter afternoon. The centre section can also be padlocked in place to secure it while the van is parked.

Choose your tread colour

The TowStep is available with a black or yellow anti-slip tread. Yellow gives you maximum visibility, which many fleet operators prefer on health and safety grounds; black is the more discreet option on a liveried or dark-coloured van. Both are the same step.

Which sensor option do I need?

This depends on what is already fitted to your van:

• No Reversing Sensors - your van has no rear parking sensors and you do not want to add any.
• With Reversing Sensors - your van has no rear parking sensors and you would like the step supplied with a sensor kit.
• With Connect+ - your van already has factory-fitted parking sensors. Connect+ lets you take the original sensors out of your bumper, locate them into the housings built into the step, and reconnect them to the vehicle loom using the plug-and-play cables provided. No rewiring and no specialist knowledge needed, and your in-cab display and audio warnings carry on working as normal. Blanking plugs are supplied to fill the empty bumper apertures.

If your van already has factory sensors, choose Connect+ - the "With Reversing Sensors" option supplies sensors you already own. Connect+ is not available for every vehicle.
